Philadelphia left fielder Del Filo had a terrific game, but it still wasn't enough to get his team a win. Filo was 2 for 3 with a home run and a double, while scoring 2, even as New York beat the Keystones, 7-6, in 11 innings. Bill Smith picked up the win in relief. His record improves to 1-1. Jim Teal suffered the loss. The 6th-place Gothams improved to 39-42.

The clutch at-bat came in the bottom of the 11th inning, when New York third baseman Frank Arnold, facing Jim Teal, had a run-scoring sacrifice fly. It gave the Gothams the 7-6 win.

"The fans went nuts at the end," Arnold said.
