Pete Jones was nothing short of phenomenal for the Minneapolis Millers. The 27-year-old right-hander was a big reason his team beat the Houston Comets, 2-0. Jones picked up the win for Minneapolis, going 7.2 innings. He gave up no runs on 6 hits. He now sports a record of 1-1. Minneapolis now sits at 15-18, while Houston falls to 22-12.

With scoring opportunities rare, the Millers had to cash in when they had the chance. One such opportunity presented itself in the bottom of the fourth, when third baseman John S. Smith hit a run-scoring single. The single came off George Roy and made the score 1-0, Millers. Smith went 2 for 3 with 2 singles and a walk.

"Pete made some big pitches when he needed to," said Millers manager Harry Hammond.
