Eagles Curb Millers, 3-1 | In a tight game between the Washington Eagles and the Minneapolis Millers, pitcher Wally Phillips was terrific on the mound. The Washington right-hander helped his team to the 3-1 win. With the win over Minneapolis, the Eagles improved to 39-41.
Alex Wilson had a big run-scoring triple for the Eagles in the bottom of the fourth inning. With Washington leading 1-0 and a runner on 1st, he got a slider from Don Hillshire, who is tied for 10th in the FA with a 3.79 ERA, and swatted a triple to left-center. It was his 3rd triple of the season, and more importantly, it put the Eagles ahead, 2-0.
"Nice win," said Phillips. "Not sure what else you want me to say." | |
