Clippers Pull Out Late Win, 4-3
Baltimore beat Boston at Patapsco Field, escaping with a 4-3 win. The win in large part was due to second baseman Amos Johnson. He went 4-5 with a double and 3 singles, while scoring 3 times. Davey Cronin picked up the win in relief. His record improves to 9-7. Bud Shireman suffered the loss. With the win, Baltimore has a record of 78-84. Boston falls to 61-101.

The clutch at-bat came in the bottom of the ninth inning, when Baltimore right fielder Bill Davis, facing Bud Shireman, had a run-scoring ground out. It gave the Clippers the 4-3 win.

"The ending was a real humdinger," Davis told reporters after the game.
