| Arrows Beaten, 5-3, by Saints | Milwaukee second baseman Paul Burkley had a terrific game, but it still wasn't enough to get his team a win. Burkley went 2-2 with 2 singles, 2 walks, and was hit by a pitch, even as Montreal beat the Arrows, 5-3. Bill McCarty came out of the bullpen to earn the win. The right-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit in 3 innings. His record now stands at 1-1. Montreal is now 81-80, Milwaukee 89-72.
Montreal used a clutch hit from Harry Swain to get the win. The first baseman drilled a 2-run home run in the top of the seventh inning to put the Saints ahead, 5-3. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a doozy.
"Whenever I help the team," said Swain, "I feel like I earned my paycheck." | |
