| Copperheads Deal Eagles 6-5 Loss | The Atlanta Copperheads and Washington Eagles put on quite a show.
The Atlanta Copperheads did just enough to nip the Washington Eagles, 6-5, in 14 innings. Atlanta pitcher Dutch Wright, in particular, had a standout performance. Ike Abraham earned the win after being summoned from the bullpen. The left-hander allowed no runs on 2 hits in 3 innings. He upped his record to 5-2.
Al Hubbard drew 1 walk for Atlanta. The 1974 FA batting champion had a key at-bat in the top of the 14th. With no one out and runners on 2nd and 3rd, he broke a 5-5 tie with a run-scoring sacrifice fly off Glenn Johnson. It was his 75th RBI of the season.
In postgame remarks, Wright simply said: "Here's to a great win!"
Atlanta is now 111-50, 34 games up in the Federal Association East. | |
