Rankin Ziegler did all he could to help his team prevail. In the end, though, it wasn't enough to keep the Chicago Chiefs from losing the game, 6-5, to the Minneapolis Millers in 11 innings at Hennepin County Stadium. Ziegler went 4-5 with a double and 3 singles, while scoring 2. Minneapolis reliever Eddie Davis was the winner. His record is now 1-1. Frank Carmichael took the loss. Chicago has now lost 5 consecutive games.

The Millers were down to their final out when left fielder Wally Driver turned a 0-1 sinker from Frank Carmichael into a 2-run single. The walk-off single made the Hennepin County Stadium crowd go wild.

"We didn't go down without a fight," said Chicago manager Ollie Howard.
