The 3-hit performance of Dick Ward, who is tied for 4th in the FA in total bases with 288, helped the Boston Minutemen beat the Baltimore Clippers, 10-2. The Minutemen go to 61-99 with the win.

With Boston leading 7-2 in the top of the eighth, Ward came up to bat against Baltimore pitcher Roy Brandt. Ward hit a sinker to left-center for a 3-run home run. His 29th home run of the season put the Minutemen on top, 10-2.

"We'll need a much better effort, the next time out," said losing manager Hank Luckenbaugh.
