| Iwasaki Blanks Nagoya Hosho, 3-0 | The Tokyo Rakisuta Rams did little to support starter Tetsuji Iwasaki against the Nagoya Hosho Reliables, but it turned out he didn't need the help.
The right-hander spun a complete game shutout against the Reliables, striking out 6 and surrendering 9 hits. The performance from Iwasaki allowed Tokyo Rakisuta to escape with the 3-0 win despite an anemic offense.
"Nobody came to me and said 'Tetsuji, we're gonna need you to win this one for us today,' but I could feel it," Iwasaki told BNN reporters following the win. "I'm the guy that will step up for you when you need it."
His record this season is 7-5 in 12 starts and Iwasaki has a 2.88 ERA. | |
