| Arrows Trip Cannons, 5-3 | The Milwaukee Arrows picked up a win at Tice Memorial Stadium II, dropping the Cincinnati Cannons, 5-3. Mel Maddox, who is tied for 7th in the CA in quality starts with 23, was the difference-maker. In 6 innings, Maddox surrendered 6 hits, while striking out 1 and walking 4. He allowed 3 runs. Jim Hart locked down his 22nd save.
Milwaukee used a well-timed hit by Dennis Miller to capture the win. The shortstop socked a 2-run double in the top of the sixth inning to put the Arrows ahead, 3-1. Though it was his only hit in 4 at-bats, it was important.
"It never gets old," said Miller. "Winning, that is."
The win puts Milwaukee at 81-78 this season. | |
