| Chicago Nerve Tested in 7-6 Win | At Whitney Park, the Chicago Chiefs edged the Los Angeles Suns, 7-6, in 11 innings. Chicago left fielder Joe Siniscalchi, who jolted 1 home run, was a key contributor. The winner in relief was Ed Rowley. The left-hander allowed 1 run on 3 hits in 2 innings. He now owns a record of 2-7. The 5th-place Chiefs improved to 68-91.
The game was decided with one out in the bottom of the 11th. With Chicago trailing 6-5, Babe Thornton hit a fastball from Joe Kienle to center for a 2-run single. Just like that, the Chiefs had a walk-off win.
"It's great when the crowd is energized," Siniscalchi said. | |
