| Kings Score Late to Upend Cougars, 5-4 | The Seattle Kings had to overcome a fine effort from Chicago pitcher Bob Goldman to win, 5-4, at Cougars Park. Goldman went 7.1 innings and allowed 3 runs. Picking up the save was Billy Collins, his 39th. The Kings own a robust 106-52 mark.
Curt Day was 1-2 with a double, a walk, and was hit by a pitch, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once for Seattle. The 12-year veteran had a key at-bat in the top of the ninth. With one out and the bases loaded, he broke a 3-3 tie with a run-scoring walk off Leroy Williams. It was his 16th walk of the season.
"We had some nice at-bats at the right time," said Kings manager Alex Watt. | |
