| Comets Stop Chiefs, 5-3 | The Houston Comets beat the Chicago Chiefs, 5-3, at Dalton Domed Stadium. Houston left fielder Stan Francis had an outstanding performance. He was 3 for 4 with 3 singles. He drove in 3 runs. Bob Young was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 23 of 30 save opportunities. Houston is now 82-75.
The Comets got a lift from right fielder John Edwards, who in the bottom of the second stroked a first pitch curveball to center for a run-scoring single. It was his 56th hit of the season and put the Comets ahead, 3-1.
