Riding the 2-hit performance of the 1968 Whitney Award winner John Edwards, the Houston Comets defeated the St. Louis Pioneers, 10-1. Houston starter Johnny Blackburn was credited with the win after throwing 127 pitches over 7.1 innings. His record now stands at 20-6. The Comets improved their record to 87-69 by beating St. Louis.

Ernie Carter hit a 2-run triple off Lloyd Henson in the bottom of the second, which put the Comets in front, 2-0. Carter had 1 single, in addition to the triple. For the game, he went 2 for 4.
