Win Goes to Cougars in Tight Contest
Chicago and Los Angeles got after it at Bigsby Stadium.

Bob Goldman, who led the CA in strikeouts with 168 in 1971, had a strong outing for the Chicago Cougars against the Los Angeles Stars at Bigsby Stadium. The right-hander was a big part of his team's 6-3 win. Jim Norris closed out the game, earning his 23rd save.

Chicago used the timely hitting of Chuck Ennis to seize the win. The pinch hitter stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the eighth inning to put the Cougars on top, 3-2. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a game-changer.

"I just tried to see the ball and put a good swing on it," said Ennis.

With the win over Los Angeles, the Cougars improved to 72-86.
