| Stars Improve to 78-78 with 5-3 Win | Los Angeles pitcher Bill Dunham had a large part in his team beating the Kansas City Mavericks, 5-3. The right-hander kept opposing batters in check throughout the game. In 8.1 innings, Dunham surrendered 5 hits, while striking out 7 and walking 4. He allowed 3 runs. Ed Jackson sewed up the save, his 5th.
Second Baseman Bill Bell made an impact for Los Angeles, when he swatted a 2-run double off Dave Dalton in the top of the third. For the contest, Bell was 2-5 with a double, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once.
"The other side took advantage in some key situations," said Kansas City manager Bob Bendick.
Los Angeles currently is in second place in the Continental Association West at 78-78.
