| Minutemen Rally to Win, 3-2 | Boston starter Charlie Roberts pitched well against the Philadelphia Keystones at Minuteman Stadium. The right-hander led his team to a win, 3-2, in 11 innings. Ken West came out of the bullpen to earn the win. The right-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit in 2 innings. His record now stands at 8-4. Philadelphia has now lost 4 consecutive games.
Up to bat in the bottom of the 11th, 25-year old left fielder Dick Ward had a chance to be the hero. Philadelphia pitcher Bobby Coy had other ideas. But with one out, Ward hit a sacrifice fly. The Minutemen had themselves a dramatic win.
"The crowd was boisterous tonight," said Ward. | |
