| Stars Win in Extras, 5-3 | The Los Angeles Stars stopped the Kansas City Mavericks, 5-3, at Mavericks Stadium. The Stars got a big game from Ralph Barrell, who went 3-5 with a home run and a double. He scored 2 times and drove in 2. Los Angeles bumps their record to 77-78 with the win.
Barrell had a game-changing home run in the top of the tenth. On a 1-0 fastball from John Moss, he banged a 2-run home run to right, giving the Stars a 5-3 lead. It was the 11th home run of the year for Barrell.
"We didn't go down without a fight," said Kansas City manager Bob Bendick.
