| Cougars Beaten, 6-4, by Stars | The Los Angeles Stars picked up a win at Bigsby Stadium, downing the Chicago Cougars, 6-4. On the mound for Los Angeles was right-hander Bill Dunham, who played a pivotal role in the win. Jackie Thompson came out of the bullpen to earn the win. The left-hander allowed 1 run on 2 hits in 2 innings. His record now stands at 15-4. The triumph puts Los Angeles at 92-62 for the season.
Erv Blair provided some late-game heroics for Los Angeles. In the bottom of the eighth inning, he hit a run-scoring single. It came on a 1-2 screwball from Jim Norris and propelled Los Angeles to a 5-4 lead.
"We'll put this win in our pocket and go after the next one," said Blair.
