| Keystones Solve Atlanta in Extra Innings | Philadelphia beat Atlanta at Peachtree Stadium, escaping with a 3-2 win in 10 innings. The win in large part was due to first baseman Andy Parker. He went 4-4 with a double, 3 singles, and a walk. Philadelphia reliever Jim Steuber was the winner. His record is now 4-12. Buddy Thomas took the loss. The first-place Copperheads have dropped 4 straight games.
The game was all tied up in the top of the tenth, until Parker delivered big-time for Philadelphia, stroking a dramatic run-scoring single off Buddy Thomas. The game-changing hit put the Keystones on top, 3-2.
"We were in it," said Atlanta manager Don Fox. "We just didn't score enough runs." | |
