Pete Dance, who is tied for 9th in the FA in triples with 6, had a direct impact on the outcome. Dance contributed a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the top of the seventh inning to put Detroit up, 2-1.

"Pat gave us a huge shot in the arm," said Detroit manager Roger Cleaves.
