Halliday Stars as Cougars Top Imperials, 7-5
1963 is shaping up to be a forgettable year for the New York Imperials.

The Chicago Cougars defeated the New York Imperials, 7-5, at Dyckman Stadium. Chicago shortstop Tom Halliday had a superb performance. He was 3 for 4 with a home run, a triple, and a double. He scored 3 times and drove in 3. Arch Wilson, credited with the save, is now 6 for 7 in save opportunities.

Chicago relied on the hitting of Dode Caudill to pick up the win. The left fielder ripped a run-scoring single in the top of the fifth inning to put the Cougars on top, 1-0. For the game, Caudill had 1 triple and 1 single in 5 at-bats.

"Winning is contagious," said Halliday. "We're looking forward to the next game."

With the win, the Cougars have a record of 89-63.
