With right fielder Mark Boyd leading the charge, the Cincinnati Cannons defeated the Cleveland Foresters, 15-9, at Tice Memorial Stadium II. Boyd, the 4th overall pick in the 1959 draft, went 2 for 5 with 2 home runs, while adding 7 RBI and scoring twice. Cincinnati pitcher Jack Meeks earned the win, hiking his record to 15-11. Johnny Britton suffered the loss. Cincinnati has now won 3 straight, while the Foresters have lost 3 in a row.

With Cincinnati leading 4-1 in the bottom of the second, Boyd hit a changeup from Johnny Britton for a grand slam home run. It was his 6th home run of the season and put the Cannons ahead, 8-1.

"We came out aggressive," said Cannons manager Buddy Baumgart. "We came out swinging the bats."
