Art McKinney was a vital contributor to the 17-3 Cincinnati victory over Cleveland. The Cannons catcher hit 2 home runs. He drove in 6 runs and scored twice. The win puts Cincinnati at 73-73 this season.

With Cincinnati leading 3-1 in the bottom of the fifth, McKinney hit a slider from Tommy Miller for a grand slam home run. It was his 18th home run of the season and put the Cannons ahead, 7-1.

Said Cleveland manager Jim Whitehead after the blowout loss: "They did pretty much every facet of the game better than we did and that's why we lost."
