| Foresters Clip Imperials, 3-2 | New York got a terrific performance from pitcher Emmett Thornton, but it wasn't enough to beat the Cleveland Foresters. Cleveland won the Dyckman Stadium contest, 3-2. Thornton threw 7.0 innings of 6-hit ball for the losing team. The Foresters, at 76-72, lead by one game in their division.
Cleveland needed the clutch hitting of Reggie Anderson to seal the deal. The catcher swatted a solo home run in the top of the 11th inning to put the Foresters on top, 3-2. For the game, Anderson had 1 home run and 1 single in 3 at-bats.
"That's what these guys do," said Foresters manager Ray Parsons. "They battle, they fight." | |
