Houston Comets starter Jay Hunt was in fine form. He led his team to victory over the Chicago Chiefs, 4-1. Bob Young recorded the save, his 27th. The Comets raised their record to 82-66.

The Comets got a big at-bat from center fielder Hank Andrew. For the game, Andrew was 1 for 5 with a home run. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. In the bottom of the fifth, with runners on 2nd and 3rd, he stroked a 3-run home run. His 13th home run of the season gave Houston a 4-1 lead.

"A confident pitcher is a dangerous thing," said Houston manager Glenn Carney. "That's what Jay is right now."
