| Philadelphia Dealt 5-3 Defeat | The Boston Minutemen weathered an outstanding game by Philadelphia first baseman Andy Parker to topple the Keystones, 5-3. Parker went 3 for 3 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. The winner was Bob Scott, who threw 98 pitches over 7 innings. The right-hander was charged with 2 runs on 4 hits. Boston is now 76-73, Philadelphia 68-82.
In the top of the 7th, pitcher Bob Scott gave Boston the lead when he hit a 2-run single. The Minutemen had been trailing 2-1, but the two-out single off Philadelphia pitcher Doc Carver changed that -- and Boston went on to win.
Boston manager Dode Edwards praised his team's "energy." | |
