| Imperials Slap 3-2 Loss on Cleveland | Both teams had their opportunities, but in the end, the New York Imperials got the win.
The New York Imperials nipped the Cleveland Foresters, 3-2, at Dyckman Stadium. New York pitcher Jim White, in particular, starred. White yielded 2 runs over 7 innings to notch the win. He scattered 4 hits, walked 4, and struck out 6. His record improves to 18-8. Picking up his 30th save was two-time All-Star Ed Cooper.
Had Rusty Robertson not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and a runner on 2nd, Robertson hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 3-2, in favor of the Imperials.
"It's about putting our team in the best position to win ballgames," said White.
The setback makes Cleveland 75-72. | |
