Cannons Lose to Stars in Walk-Off
The timely hitting of Charlie Barrell helped the Los Angeles Stars down the Cincinnati Cannons, 9-8. Barrell was 3 for 5 with a home run and a double, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once for the Stars. Mel Maddox, now 3-2, picked up the win in relief. He allowed no runs on no hits in 2 innings. The Stars saw their win-loss record go to 82-63. At the same time, the Cannons fell to 72-73.

The decisive at-bat for Los Angeles came with two out in the bottom of the ninth. With the bases loaded, Barrell hit a bases-clearing double for the walk-off win.

"We came out aggressive," said Stars manager Charley McCullough. "We came out swinging the bats."
