| Houston Scrapes Out 1-0 Win | The Los Angeles Suns got a sterling performance from pitcher Pete Meissner, but the Houston Comets still prevailed, 1-0. Meissner threw 7.0 innings of shutout ball. Bob Young collected his 20th save. The Comets improved their record to 77-71 with the win over Los Angeles.
Bobby Thompson's at-bat with one out in the top of the eighth was critical. The Houston pinch hitter hit a sacrifice fly, to put his team on top, 1-0. Runs were at a premium and this one was huge.
"It was a tough night at the plate," said Los Angeles manager Jim Coulter.
