| Seattle Slaps 4-2 Loss on Kansas City | Getting an impressive start from Swede Hawkins, Seattle beat Kansas City by the score of 4-2. Hawkins picked up the win for Seattle, going 7.2 innings. He gave up 2 runs on 4 hits. He now sports a record of 17-8. The first-place Kings lifted their record to 89-59.
The Kings got an important contribution from right fielder Mike Griffith, who in the bottom of the fifth punched a 2-0 fastball to left for a 2-run home run. It was his 18th home run of the season and put the Kings ahead, 3-0.
"I liked his command," said Seattle manager Alex Watt. "Swede was throwing strikes."
