| Mavericks Earn 6-4 Win Against Sailors | The Kansas City Mavericks clipped the San Francisco Sailors, 6-4, in 13 innings at Golden Gate Stadium. The standout performance belonged to Kansas City pitcher and Rochester, New York, native Irv Hoops. The last-place Sailors now sit at 67-82.
Who knows how it would've ended, had it not been for Bobby Frost? The 29-year old catcher Frost stroked a run-scoring double in the top of the 13th inning to put Kansas City up, 5-4. For the game, he was 2 for 6, including 1 double and 1 single.
"We just battled, never quit, and continued to grind out at-bats trying to create some opportunities," said Kansas City manager Bob Bendick. | |
