Stars Get Extra-Inning, 3-2 Win
Bigsby Stadium was host to some intense drama.

In a low-scoring affair between the Los Angeles Stars and the Chicago Cougars, pitcher Jackie Thompson was the difference between victory and defeat. The Los Angeles left-hander earned accolades for his stellar performance in the 3-2 Stars win. The winner in relief was Ed Jackson. The left-hander allowed no runs on 2 hits in 2 innings. He now owns a record of 3-1.

The decisive blow was delivered by Mike Stevenson in the bottom of the tenth when he hit a run-scoring double off 27-year old right-handed pitcher Leroy Williams to win the game for Los Angeles. The home crowd went nuts.

"For the most part, I stayed out of the middle of the plate," Thompson said.

Chicago now owns a losing streak of 5 games.
