| Big Day for Wise in 9-3 Minutemen Win | The Boston Minutemen beat the Washington Eagles, 9-3, at Columbia Stadium. Boston third baseman Jim Wise had the hot bat. He went 4-4 with a home run, a double, 2 singles, and a walk, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. Johnny Hall, the winner, improved to 9-10. He held the Eagles to 2 runs on 5 hits over 6.1 innings, while striking out 4 and walking 0. Boston has now won 4 in a row.
Boston right fielder George Brown contributed a timely at-bat in the top of the third. With two down, he hit a screwball to center field for a run-scoring single. It was his 10th hit of the season and put the Minutemen ahead, 3-1.
"We can always improve and get better, but we're feeling confident after that win," said Wise. | |
