| Kings Take Nail-Biter Over Mavericks | The Seattle Kings picked up a win at Seattle Municipal Stadium, knocking off the Kansas City Mavericks, 2-1, in 10 innings. On the mound for Seattle was right-hander Moe Lowery. He played a pivotal role in the triumph. The first-place Kings have won 9 in a row.
The decisive blow was delivered by Mike Griffith in the bottom of the tenth when he hit a run-scoring double off 28-year old left-handed pitcher John Moss to win the game for Seattle. The home crowd went nuts.
"Winning is contagious," said Griffith, "and right now we've caught the bug."
