| Kings Send Kansas City Home with 5-4 Loss | The Kansas City Mavericks could not turn a fine performance from pitcher Cal Newman into a win. Instead, the Seattle Kings prevailed, 5-4. Newman threw 5.0 innings of 2-hit ball. Billy Collins earned his 35th save in 43 tries. Seattle now has a record of 97-49 with the win.
Seattle third baseman Jack Lucas helped the Kings go up, 5-3, in the bottom of the sixth inning. With the game tied, Lucas hit a 2-run single off Kansas City pitcher John Moss.
"I like the roll we're on right now," said Lucas after the game.
