| Cougars Topple Sailors, 8-5 | Chicago Cougars starter Hal Adams found his groove in his team's 8-5 win over the San Francisco Sailors. Chicago pitcher Leo Bliss got the win, upping his record to 1-0. Jim Teal got the loss. Jim Norris was called on to finish, recording his 20th save.
Chicago used the timely hitting of Tom Halliday to seize the win. The pinch hitter stroked a 2-run single in the top of the seventh inning to put the Cougars on top, 5-4. It was his only hit in 2 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"I put my work in and trusted the process," said Adams.
After today's action, Chicago sits at 67-80, while San Francisco falls to 66-80. | |
