Pioneers Win at Los Angeles, 9-1
At Wilshire Park, the Los Angeles Suns and St. Louis Pioneers were greeted by an enthusiastic crowd.

The St. Louis Pioneers downed the Los Angeles Suns, 9-1, at Wilshire Park. Stellar pitching by Tige Bowe had a lot to do with it. The right-hander, who finished 5th in the FA in wins with 18 last year, handcuffed his opponent all game. Bowe picked up the win for St. Louis, going 8 innings. He gave up 1 run on 6 hits. He now sports a record of 12-13.

The Pioneers benefited from an error in the top of the fourth inning. St. Louis was leading 2-1 when Quinton Vincent hit a run-scoring single that was misplayed. It put St. Louis in front, 3-1.

"We put our best foot forward tonight," said a smiling Bowe.

The loss makes Los Angeles 85-60.
