| Dynamos Bag 2-0 Win | Right-hander Pat Fortier mesmerized the Chicago Chiefs while leading the Detroit Dynamos to a 2-0 victory. Fortier, now 15-5, was the winner. In 7 innings, he gave up 6 hits, while striking out 2, walking 1, and allowing no runs. Dick Butler earned his 20th save in 23 chances.
With scoring opportunities rare, the Dynamos had to cash in when they had the chance. One such opportunity presented itself in the bottom of the fourth, when second baseman Melvin Williams hit a 2-run single. The single came off Nate Carr and made the score 2-0, Dynamos. Williams was 1 for 2 with a walk. He drove in 2 runs.
"I put my work in and trusted the process," said Fortier.
The Chiefs, now 72-75, have lost 4 in a row. | |
