The Pittsburgh Miners converted a terrific effort from starter Jimmy Blair into a win over the Los Angeles Suns at Fitzpatrick Park. The Miners won the game by a final score of 4-1. Manny Espinosa was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 21 of 27 save opportunities. With the victory, the Miners upped their record to 83-63.

John Moreland had a big run-scoring double for the Miners in the bottom of the fifth inning. With Pittsburgh leading 2-1 and a runner on 2nd, he got a fastball from 31-year old left-handed pitcher Jim Foster and swatted a double to left-center. It was his 21st double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Miners ahead, 3-1.

"This level of focus will win us a lot of ballgames," Moreland said after the game.
