| St. Louis Beaten, 7-3, by Los Angeles | The Los Angeles Suns knocked off the St. Louis Pioneers, 7-3, in Federal Association action at Wilshire Park. Los Angeles pitcher and Pine Bluff, Arkansas, native Heinie Schmidt had an outstanding performance. Ron Clark recorded the save, making him 35 for 44. The first-place Suns, at 85-59, lead the Federal Association West by 5 games.
The game was at a stalemate until shortstop Tom Lally came to bat in the bottom of the eighth. Facing St. Louis pitcher Jack Cornwell, he hit a 1-2 curveball for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Los Angeles on top, 3-2.
"We had a good game plan," Schmidt said, "and we were able to execute it."
