The Detroit Dynamos beat the Chicago Chiefs, 6-4, at Thompson Field. Detroit third baseman Bill Austin had an outstanding performance. He went 2 for 2 with a double and 2 walks, while scoring 2 runs. With the win, the Dynamos sit at 73-71.

Detroit took a 6-4 lead on Dean Estes's 5th double of the season. The 2-run double, which Estes hit in the bottom of the seventh, left Chicago pitcher Norm Sutherland visibly frustrated.

"Say want you want about this team, they play nine innings hard," said Detroit manager Roger Cleaves.
