Chiefs Win at Boston, 5-2 | The Chicago Chiefs defeated the Boston Minutemen, 5-2, in Federal Association action at Minuteman Stadium. Chicago pitcher Vern Osborne had a standout performance. The winning pitcher was Osborne, now 16-8. He tossed 7 innings of 5-hit ball, while walking 3 and fanning 4. Bobby McGough closed the game out for Chicago, earning his 1st save.
In the top of the fourth, Ed Bloom delivered a clutch hit. With two gone and runners on 1st and 3rd, the Chicago first baseman hit a run-scoring single, putting the Chiefs in front, 5-2.
"I made some pitches when I had to," said Osborne.
