| Clippers Beat Boston, 2-1 | The Clippers grabbed a win, 2-1, at Minuteman Stadium, overcoming a fine effort from Boston pitcher Bill Kelly. Kelly went 7 innings and allowed 1 run. Jack Smith picked up the win in relief. His record improves to 1-0. Ed Phipps suffered the loss. The Clippers improved their record to 66-77 by beating Boston.
Who knows how it would've ended, had it not been for Bill Davis? The 25-year old left fielder Davis stroked a run-scoring double in the top of the 12th inning to put Baltimore up, 2-1. For the game, he was 3 for 5, including 2 doubles and 1 single.
"We busted our tails," said Boston manager Dode Edwards. "But we came up short." | |
