Almost There: Philadelphia On Cusp of World Championship Series Triumph After 6-4 Win
With starter John Thomas Johnson leading the charge, the Philadelphia Sailors defeated the St. Louis Pioneers, 6-4, in Game 4 of the World Championship Series. The right-hander threw 8.0 innings of 4-hit ball at Sailors Memorial Stadium to help Philadelphia take a 3-1 lead in the best-of-7 series.

In the bottom of the seventh, Philadelphia left fielder George Rutter had a productive at-bat. With runners on 1st and 2nd and one out, Rutter stroked a 2-run triple to left-center. It made the score 6-3, Philadelphia. For the game, he was 2-4 with a triple. He drove in 2 runs and scored once.

"John Thomas just settled in and did what he does," said Philadelphia manager Billy Rose.

The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Sailors Memorial Stadium in Philadelphia.
