San Francisco shortstop Carlos Jaramillo had a terrific game, but it still wasn't enough to get his team a win. Jaramillo went 1-3 with a home run and 2 walks. He scored 3 runs, even as Montreal beat the Sailors, 8-7. With the win, the Saints have a record of 59-70.

Montreal used the timely hitting of Fred Jones to seize the win. The catcher stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the ninth inning to put the Saints on top, 8-7. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a game-changer.

"It wasn't a pretty victory," said Jones, "but we got it done."
