| Mavericks Go Down to Defeat, 3-2 | In a low-scoring game between the Seattle Kings and the Kansas City Mavericks, pitcher Charlie Rushing was the difference-maker. The Seattle right-hander was tough as nails in the 3-2 Kings win. Rushing yielded 2 runs over 8.2 innings to notch the win. He scattered 3 hits, walked 4, and struck out 2. His record improves to 13-9. The triumph puts Seattle at 83-58 for the season.
Sam Barnes, who finished 3rd in the CA in on-base percentage with .383 in 1965, had a timely hit in the top of the fifth inning. With one out and runners on 2nd and 3rd, the Seattle second baseman hit a 2-run single. That put the Kings in front, 2-1.
"We put some tough at-bats on some tough pitches," said Seattle manager Alex Watt.
