The Cleveland Foresters spoiled a good performance by New York third baseman George Love, bumping off New York, 6-5, at Forester Stadium. Love was 3-4 with 3 singles and a walk. He scored 3 runs. Cleveland, now 72-68, holds down first place in the Continental Association East.

The clutch at-bat came in the bottom of the ninth inning, when Cleveland shortstop Herb Reed, facing Ed Cooper, had a run-scoring walk. It gave the Foresters the 6-5 win.

"Put a star next to this win," Reed said.
