| Clippers Win with Late Rally | The Baltimore Clippers faced a tough opponent in Philadelphia pitcher Jorge Arellano, but found a way to pull out the victory at Liberty Coliseum by a final score of 6-5 in 11 innings. Arellano went 7 innings and allowed 3 runs. Jerry Baker closed it out for Baltimore, earning his 1st save. The 4th-place Clippers have a record of 64-76.
Clarence James went 1 for 3 with a walk for Baltimore. The 35-year old second baseman had a key at-bat in the top of the 11th. With one out and runners on 1st and 3rd, he broke a 5-5 tie with a run-scoring sacrifice fly off Bobby Coy. It was his 39th RBI of the season.
"The game of baseball will test you," said Hank Luckenbaugh, the Baltimore skipper. "This one tested us." | |
