| Millers Fall Short, 5-4, at Chicago | Minneapolis shortstop John Smith was sensational. He was 2 for 3 with a home run and a walk, while scoring 3 runs and driving in 2. But it wasn't enough to rally his team to a win. Chicago beat the Millers, 5-4. The winning pitcher was John Thomas. He tossed 124 pitches over 8.1 innings, allowing 4 runs on 7 hits.
