Sax, Stars Beat Cannons, 9-2 | The Los Angeles Stars defeated the Cincinnati Cannons, 9-2, at Bigsby Stadium. Los Angeles was led by 26-year old left fielder Charlie Sax, who went 3-4 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk. He scored 3 times and drove in 2. The Stars have an impressive 85-54 record.
Sy Dunn had a big bases-clearing double for the Stars in the bottom of the fourth inning. With Los Angeles leading 2-0 and the bases loaded, he got a fastball from 36-year old right-handed pitcher Eddie Martin and swatted a double to right. It was his 3rd double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Stars ahead, 5-0.
"We didn't put up much resistance," said losing manager Hal Upton. | |
