Chiefs Score Late, Topple Comets, 10-9
The Chicago Chiefs electrified the crowd with a walk-off win.

The Chicago Chiefs withstood a fine game by Houston center fielder Hank Andrew at Whitney Park, to upend the Comets, 10-9. Andrew was 4 for 5 with 4 singles. He scored 3 times. The win belonged to Hal Alsip in relief. His record improves to 5-13. Al Bailey took the loss for Houston.

The game was decided with no one out in the bottom of the ninth. With Chicago trailing 9-8, Bob Smith hit a sinker from Al Bailey to center for a 2-run single. Just like that, the Chiefs had a walk-off win.

"I'm glad I could get it done when the game was in the balance," Smith said in his postgame press conference.

The 5th-place Chiefs are now 72-71, the Comets 77-63.
