The exploits of shortstop Joe Kleman, who finished 4th in the FA in hits with 189 in 1957, helped the St. Louis Pioneers defeat the Minneapolis Millers, 10-1. Kleman went 4 for 4 with a double and 3 singles. He scored 2 times and drove in 4. St. Louis pitcher Billy Hasson earned the win, hiking his record to 15-7. Don Hillshire suffered the loss. The win gives St. Louis a season record of 89-49.

With St. Louis leading 1-0 in the top of the fourth, Kleman hit a run-scoring single off Minneapolis hurler Don Hillshire. It was the 31st hit of the season for Kleman and put his team ahead, 2-0.

Kleman told a St. Louis Today reporter that he was "gratified" with the win.
