Seattle 90-49 After 3-2 Win Over Kansas City
The exploits of first baseman Jack Lucas, who led the FA in batting average with .318 in 1966, helped the Seattle Kings defeat the Kansas City Mavericks, 3-2. Lucas was 4-5 with 2 triples and 2 singles, while scoring 2 times. Billy Collins, who led the CA in saves with 23 in 1973, earned the save for Seattle. The first-place Kings, at 90-49, now lead their division by 17 games.

Seattle used a well-timed hit by Bob Glowacki to capture the win. The right fielder socked a run-scoring double in the top of the fourth inning to put the Kings ahead, 3-1. Though it was his only hit in 5 at-bats, it was important.

"Every play was important. Every out was important," said Kings manager Alex Watt.
